June 20-22, 2019
Announcing the first-ever Marimba + Voice Festival. Co-hosted by singing marimbists Brian Calhoon and Doug Smith, this 3-day event will be held in Utah Valley University’s new world-class performing arts center. UVU is in Orem, Utah at the base of Mt. Timpanogos in the Wasatch Mountain Range and neighbors Salt Lake City, host of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and Park City’s Sundance Film Festival.
The mission of @marimbavoicefest is to bring together singing marimbists in the sharing of ideas, repertoire, and techniques; and to build community among pioneers of this flourishing new genre. Each day will be packed with performances, group vocal technique classes, composition and arranging sessions, open discussions, and networking where we can learn from each other in a supportive, collaborative environment.
